Recommendations for the March 2020 England Hockey AGM

Dear members,

A Structure Fit for the Future - Recommendations for the March 2020 England Hockey AGM

At the 2017 England Hockey AGM members voted resoundingly in favour of a resolution that was put forward by clubs to review the structure of the sport. Since then England Hockey has been undertaking research, consulting and agreeing on the principles and developing an initial proposal for the membership to consider. Over the summer this proposal has been shared by England Hockey at 10 Roadshows around the country that have been attended by over 300 representatives from more than 150 clubs and over 70 associations.
If you would like to see more of the detail, a full background and timeline of the work done to get to this point is available at www.englandhockey.co.uk/agmresolution. You will also be able to access:
- Brochure Electronic copy of the booklet 'A Structure Fit for the Future'
- Presentation A short video of the AGM Resolution Presentation
- FAQ's Questions asked at, and following, the Roadshows

The proposal has been positively received through the Roadshows with feedback focusing on refining and improving the proposal as well as identifying where members require more detail. We recognise that there will be different interpretations of some of the issues in the proposal and that some organisations are affected by the change more than others. To ensure consistency of message on some of the key issues please refer to the 'Frequently Asked Questions' download.

The next step is to encourage clubs and associations to respond to the survey gathering feedback on the proposals by 27 October 2019 - You can fill in the survey via the link here (if you want to look at the survey before filling it in you can find a downloadable a PDF version from www.englandhockey.co.uk/agmresolution ).

After this survey closes, the England Hockey Working Group will issue more information later in the Autumn including the following:
1. The summary from the survey with the key themes and feedback
2. An updated proposal with any additions / changes in light of the feedback
3. More detail including specifics such as:
a. An implementation plan with the timelines for decision making
b. More detail on the proposed league structures

Finally, a reminder to cast your vote in the 2020 AGM! You don't need to come to the AGM to do this as England Hockey will issue electronic voting slips during February 2020.

The roadshows confirmed that this is a once in a generation opportunity to change the way hockey is administered for the benefit of all involved. Please have your say!

Best wishes,
