Statement from Lincs County Umpires Association

Statement from Lincs County Umpires Association but applies to the relationship with umpires at all levels.

It is extremely disappointing to hear that already this season a number of our Umpires, Young & Old, have been subjected to abuse from players. Abusing an Umpire whether you believe you are right or wrong is never acceptable and should not be tolerated by clubs.

Some of these Umpires are schoolboys/girls, and arguably despite their Young age are still better than the majority of other Umpires you will receive.

It is disheartening to hear that some of this abuse has come from players that really should know better. Clubs already struggle enough as it is to get every game covered with Umpires on a Saturday. The bravery that some of those that do volunteer demonstrate is admirable.

LCHUA is committed to taking robust action against any player found to be abusing an Umpire, whether within Lincolnshire or a far.

Yes, the Umpire may have made a wrong decision, they're only human, even FIH Umpires only get 8/10 decisions right and they are the best of the best and have had years of coaching and support. Your club umpires may have only have just picked up a whistle.

RESPECT costs nothing, and goes along way.

Lincolnshire are lucky enough to have some of the best Senior Umpires and Young Umpires in the Country
